The Sixth sense!! - A challenging innovation in IT world

Many might have known about this innovation in IT world.. But i thought i should sure make a mention about this. The sixth sense by Pranav Mistry a student from MIT.. Awesome innovation by an Indian student who wishes to make this wonderful project open source and not commercial!! Not many would dare to make it as open source after working for 8 years on it.. Really great! Am sure this would become an alternative to Microsoft’s surface when enhanced ( though it already has a lots and lots of features.. )

He uses paper as screen! really amazing and the place where the camera captures image from news paper and turns it to video from web reminds me of Daily prophet in Harry potter! The best innovator of this century..This Indian rocks :)

Watch and enjoy,

Best composition ever..

This post is purely dedicated to the great musician Isaignyani ilayaraja.. We have been hearing his songs from childhood, each song is different in its own way.. Being an admirer of his works i was searching for one of his songs in Sindhu Bhairavi movie, “Kalaivaniye” where he had used only aarohanam and no avarohanam.. I ended up in this Video( a part of some TV show) , where he has experimented with music again, by composing a song with only 3 swaras in it- “Sa Ri Ga”.. So far the songs have been constructed only from 5 swaras, this is an unbelievable song with only 3 notes, peppy as well.. Enjoy it :)

My first music experience - அரங்கேற்றம்

For past 9 months I have been learning Carnatic music from Mrs. Vilasini venkatraman and I got a chance to participate in a bajan in nearby temple, on this vijayadasami day.. :) I was very happy that she chose me too to join in the bajan though am just a beginner in music. We were a group of 6 and sang 8 songs..

1. மூலாதார மூர்த்தி

2. செந்தூரில் நின்றாடும்

3. சாம்ப சிவயன

4. ஸ்ரீ சக்ர நாயகி

5. மாணிக்க வீணை ஏந்தும்

6. ராம பக்த ஹனுமான்

7. பிரேம முதிதே

8. மங்களம்
We went to the temple by 5.45 pm and the program started at 6.15 pm.. There were 3 groups from our music school - வேத மீனாக்ஷி சங்கீத வித்யாலயா and totally 19 students sang in 3 batches.. First batch consisted of small children, next was ours and then third batch again contained small children. I was nervous as it was my first program on stage and we started singing, the first song went well.. The second song i wasn’t sure of the words, so I thought of starting after others begin.. We sang the pallavi, anu pallavi and in charanam, suddenly everyone stopped!! All thought of waiting for someone else start i think :( there was a sudden silence :( and we somehow picked up and completed the song.. but after that we got claps for all other songs :) I was too happy that i got chance to sing song on auspicious day Vijayadhasami :) I thank Mrs. Vilasini venkatraman for giving me an opportunity to participate in bajan.. Though i was the eldest in whole lot of students who sang that day, in music am the youngest learner and they are my seniors :) I pray god to give me more opportunities to sing..

நினைத்ததெல்லாம் நடந்துவிட்டால்…

It has been a looooooooooooooong time since I wrote my last post. Due to bandwidth problem, my site wasn’t working for nearly 2 weeks, a lot of things happened in these two weeks. I wasn’t able to post my experiences though I wanted to. Well, Better late than never :)

I got admission in College of Engineering, Guindy for M.E Software Engineering. Counseling was on 18th august. I was more tensed than anyone else before the counseling. I wasn’t able to sleep the day before the counseling and reached anna university at 6 AM as my counseling was scheduled at 8 AM. Me and my friends were discussing the possibility of getting good colleges and being a OC candidate I was more tensed as anyone can take OC seats. We went inside the counseling hall and the people there were very friendly. There were no seats in M.E CSE for me but there were seats in all other branches in CEG. I opted Software Engineering, Multimedia Technology and Information technology. And there were 40 more people who had to choose seats before me. I was so nervous looking at the counter decreasing and found seats in each department getting reduced and at last the counter became green, I had seat in all these courses and had to choose between the 3 courses. I choose Software engineering and walked out happily. Got the allotment order and called my parents, friends to share my happiness. I never thought I would join CEG. Well.. I should go by the words,

எது நடந்ததோ அது நன்றாகவே நடந்தது
எது நடக்கிறதோ அதுவும் நன்றாகவே நடக்கிறது
எது நடக்குமோ அதுவும் நன்றாகவே நடக்கும்

Now am a CEGian :) . The college started for us on 24th August. I was very happy to be a student of the prestigious institution. I was there at 8 AM and found that timetable was displayed in the notice board and also the fresher’s meeting was at 10 AM. I was with few of my new friends and we had no idea of what to do till 10. Somehow the time passed and at 10 we attended the function and went to class. We were surprised to see that class was going on and the class started at 8.30 itself! And we were marked as absent.

And PG is not as enjoyable as UG, for now. My B.E classes will stay close to my heart as we enjoyed it a lot. I’ll keep updating my college experiences and stay tuned :)

Am back :) - from bengaluru

The Bangalore trip to get the 2nd prize from Sun microsystems for the Quizzers suite( A quiz management system that me and Hari developed).. I thought i would write few things about it :)

16th july, 8.00 PM
I started from my home to Chennai central. We reached Central just 15 minutes before the arrival of train. So I thought of buying some snacks and went to a shop nearby in Central asked for 4 frooti tetra packs and 2 Good day packets. The shop vendor said the total prize is Rs.150 first it didn’t strike my mind, after a while I thought how could this less quantity cost around 150! Checked the MRP it said Rs.10. The total prize of the good I got was only 70 and he had demanded more than the twice the amount. I enquired him, he blinked for a moment and at last I paid the MRP. The wonder is there are lot of people who cheat the passengers by not selling in MRP rate. The passengers who are obviously in a hurry to the train buy them blindly without checking anything. So beware :)

16th july, 11.15 PM
We go into the train, since it was night I wasn’t able to look outside the window and enjoy, so I climbed up to my berth, sat there watching other passengers and then I decided to sleep. It was too cold in the AC compartment so I crawled inside my blanket and started reading Dan Brown’s Deception point in my mobile and I hardly slept for 2 hours – 12.00 AM to 2.00 AM. Again I started reading the book till we reached Bangalore

17th july, 5.10 AM
We reached Bangalore station, there we waited for 15 minutes and Sun had already arranged Taxi for us. On the way I saw a temple, which I had already seen in my dream. I wondered why this happens to me. Well, I didn’t take it seriously this time. We went to the Falcon Suites, It was more like a home with sofas and Dining table I was allotted a room. I enjoyed the breakfast that they gave. The room had a TV with TataSky :) Since the award ceremony was on 18th we decided to book for a tour around Bangalore and so my father got tickets for a tour program which took us to 5 places. Tipu sultan palace, Lal bagh Garden, Silk Emporium, Museum. Vidhan Chowdah. I had to come back to Majestic to get the bus to my place Shanthi nagar which was almost half an hour from there. My father was feeling so tired and said he cannot accompany me to Falcon suites, so I got into the bus alone. The worst part of it was I don’t know Kannada and the Conductor knew only Kannada, I wasn’t able to understand what she said and she wasn’t able to understand English! :( but few passengers helped me to get down at the right place :)

18th july ,10.30 AM
The Code for freedom award ceremony started, We were in Fortune Cosmos JP Hotel . First there was a brief introduction on CFF. Totally there were around 400 valid projects out of which they shortlisted 7 projects for prizes. There was a lecture by KNR about Open source projects and then the awards were given to the students. After that we were said to speak about our project on stage and explain the hurdles while doing it. And after that was a fun event where the host had 6 pen drives and asked students to speak on the stage and gave them pen drive. First a girl went to the stage, she was said to speak about “why i need this pen drive?” she spoke and got the prize. Second was also a girl who spoke on “Why I doesn’t need the pen drive?”. Third was Hari, when he went on to the stage, the host showed my father who was sitting next to me and questioned Hari “You have to now tell me why that person sitting there needs the pen drive”. Hari spoke well and the surprise here is the host came down and gave the pen drive to my father!. My father got a 2GB transcend pen drive that day :) Thanks to hari :)

18th july, 1.30 PM
The main event of the day! Lunch :) there were a lot of varieties and we didn’t know which item to start with and to go in which order.. :) Lots of items and I think I tried most of them  Greens, Desserts, Salads and a lot! We enjoyed our lunch and then I left to Falcon suites to open my precious gift.. Apple IPod Touch! :) They had a computer there and I charged my IPod, and Falcon suites also had Wi-Fi so I was able to browse net in my IPod  It was amazing experience to use the touch IPod :) I slept with IPod in my hand :)

19th july, 6.00 AM
I left to my brother’s place Hog farm (near White Field). Took some snaps on the way and then a horrible sight in the early morning when I got out at hog farm was, there was a small temple where they were cutting the neck of a Hen as a part of ritual. The hen made a horrible cry :( , I wasn’t able to stand there and thankfully, my brother came immediately so I left the place. My brother lived in a colony where we had to go through few streets to reach his home. And readers please excuse me, again I have seen the same roads, and houses in my dream earlier, I can’t just figure out how this happens, seeing places that I haven’t ever visited.. But then, I downloaded few games for my IPod in my brother’s home :) with a hope that I can load them in my IPod. But sadly I didn’t know how to do that and then only I learnt I cant install any cracked software on my IPod :( I can only transfer music and videos. I can’t even load pdf story books in it :(

19th july, 4.15 PM
Bad time for Bangalore, A genius s going to leave the Electronic city and its going to incur a great loss  I stepped into Shatabdi Express, AC coach, Window Seat. It was really nice travelling in it  and We were provided with snacks and dinner on the train  At 10.10 PM the train reached Chennai, Which ended the amazing trip
On the whole, It was an amazing trip, though I went with a desire to visit Brindavan, I wasn’t able to go there.. but still I enjoyed the trip :)

The photos were taken from my mobile so they’ll lack clarity but Will upload more photos soon :)

God’s Grace- Sun’s Code for freedom

It started as a dull day as usual as I did not have much to do. Became sick of the holidays and so (by 2 pm) I came online to check mail. Just then a message popped up from my Gtalk saying the results of Code for Freedom were announced. Well, without much hope I went to the website, the website actually loaded too slow. I went to the winner’s page and I was shocked when I saw our names there! We got second prize in code for freedom! I didn’t know what to do! So I went to my mom and said “Amma, I got second prize in code for freedom!” and she was so happy for that :). I could not believe my eyes. Soon after that I started messaging Hari (sent a lot of messages :) )- indeed the same message “v got second prize” many times :D I didn’t know what to type in my message.. so sent the same message.. It was by God’s grace that we got the gift :)

I was so happy and was jumping with joy :) . Then started informing others and June 26, 2009 is the happiest day in my life. A golden day indeed! Hari and I will get an Apple IPod-Touch worth nearly 25000! A dream Gadget! Now we realize all our efforts have not gone in vain. I would like to thank my team members of IBM’s TGMC 2008 and also our staff. It was a team effort and our college will now get Silver trophy for participation, a Sun Toolkit, Free 2 day seminar for our college staff. I am happy that the name “Anand Institute of Higher Technology” is known nationwide. :)
